How to pay tax on cash in hand work?

I am currently working as a nanny and the family i work for doesn't want to put me on the books.

I don't want to get in trouble for not paying tax so are there any other ways I can pay it myself?

I have thought about getting an ABN but don't no if i will be required to get a business name or anything else?

I only get $15p/h so i don't even no if that would be enough to cover my taxes if i was to get an ABN?

ABNs are free and take 5 minutes to get. however i'm not sure you would need one in your instance.

you can declare the income you have received for the year in your yearly tax return and pay the tax due amount once the notice of assessment has been sent to you declaring how much tax you owe.

you can use our income tax calculator to see how much tax you will have to pay:

You should be paying tax and NI on these earnings. Your employer should also be paying employer NI on them as well. Your employer is legally obliged to provide you with a pay advice slip (there are very few exceptions to this) and an end of year summary (P60) at the end of the tax year. Whether you wish to take the matter further is up to you but if you/your employer get caught evading taxes (and your employer will be in more trouble than you) it is a serious issue, and as has been mentioned, with no NI being paid, you are ineligible for statutory sick/maternity/paternity/adoption pay, and may jeopardise your future state pension rights. You won't need proof of earnings for another job, but you might need it to apply for loans or even to be able to rent a property.
