Why does many Philippinos have spanish last names or surnames?

    Until the 20th century, Spain governed the Philippines. The Philippines were also the main Pacific port for the Manila galleon, Spanish trading fleets. Due to such a long-term presence on the islands, it is unsurprising to still find vestiges of Spanish influence to this day in areas such as names.

    When Spanish took the phillipines loong time ago they convert our ancestors to become Christians and they changed their names.
