How many milligrams of fish oil should you take per day?

My dr told me to start taking fish oil to help with depression. He said take four a day. I haven't noticed a difference so I've been taking six, equaling 7200 milligrams per day. I also have high blood pressure. Does fish oil help BP? I've heard it's good for the heart. I don't know much about vitamin supplements. Any info on this would be helpful.

Fish oils are good for the heart, but they do not affect blood pressure. Fish oils help your lipid panel by lowering your triglycerides. But, you would need to take about 4 grams per day to lower TG. Only 1 gram a day is needed for general heart health. To help with the depression, im not too sure about that. Always, always consult with your doctor or pharmacist before changing your drug regimen.
