does any one know of a haunted place in western north carolina?

Wow! Talk about a wide area, and vague request. :)

What type of "haunted place" are you looking for? An actual haunted house or the type they make up to hype around Halloween?

Pilot Mountain has had a lot of talk, for as long as I can remember. It's close to the VA/NC border, and kind of hard to miss.

A fake site is Hacker House, or was, if it is still open. I think they have taken in a story writer, or have studied some local legends there, as I have heard many of them before.

Usually, the best way to find places is to check local history, at the site. Places where older people gather, black and white, can be a hot place for leads. The older whites, and most Blacks, keep such stories alive out of tradition, which is something the younger generations tend not to do. Of course, they may be off a little, due to memory issues, but this is rare since they have heard this in youth and it stays strong for the most part.

Otherwise, I'm not up to speed on NC lore. I really need to get back into that, but I find so few interested in it today. :(
