Can I put betty crocker Vanilla frosting on a Red Velvet Cake?

I have a red velvet deluxe cake mix and don't want to make the icing with cream cheese bc i dont have all of the ingrediants...Will it still taste good if i put the frosting on the cake?

It is your cake and you put anything on it you like.  The Betty Crocker vanilla frosting will be just fine and I am sure everyone will just love it.  Traditionally, red velvet cake uses a cream cheese or butter cream frosting.

Red Velvet cake is nothing but German Chocolate cake mix with red food coloring in it.

You can use any kind of frosting on it you want.

Sure it will.  When I use a ready made frosting, I mix about a tablespoon of vanilla into it to give it  a more home made taste.  You can also use a teaspoon of almond extract.

it will be ok not great do you have butter?? you can add butter and make a butter cream
I make cupcakes and usually I put butter cream icing on red velvet 
vanilla might make it taste bland but not bad ... just be thankful its not chocolate icing iick
