i cant wait to see city vs country for once, this will be a great judge for what the game 1 team should be, country can have soward and mullen so that will be gud to see and city can have pearce/wallace and anasta.
And then theres the forwards snowden/TLL/dean young/creagh/ennis vs galloway/mannah/farrah/minichello

Yeah definitely, I look forward to it every year. So many people complain its a waste of time, there's no meaning to it etc but it's all about keeping the tradition alive, just like we still keep scrums in the game even though they are meaningless. It's been a part of Rugby League for nearly a century, even though its lost its meaning it's still a special occasion and players love to play it so I think fans need to loosen up a bit.
Im hoping we see these match ups
Dugan v Stewart/Gardner
Uate v Ferguson/Gordon
Mullen & Soward v Hodkinson/Wallace & Pearce
Snowden v Mannah
Ennis v Farah
Bird v Watmough (long shot but would be great)
Douglas v Galloway
Anasta v Young
With only naming a few likely match ups I don't know how people can't be excited for it. I understand there's a risk for injury but it's no different to any other game these players play. Cant wait

mm... I've always enjoyed City v Country especially last years when both teams played some highly creative Rugby. It also gives Stuart a chance to see how different combinations gel together, if only for one week. I'm looking forward to seeing the battle of the halves in Particular as Pearce and Mullen are both still in the running for the #7 and a good game from either player might push for their selection. Also the battle of the props will an interesting one as their are still a few in the running for the 4 prop spots in the team. Good games from Mannah and Tolman might push their cases for starting positions.
However playing CvC on the same day as the test match, seems a little stupid to me as some players who would play city country will be chosen in the Aus squad therefore forcing CvC selectors to pick the 2nd option.. So either they should scrap CvC or play it on a different weekend or even mid week like Origin is played

I really don't see the point in the city v country game. How taking all the players that they want and making them clash against each other is meant to make the selection process any clearer just goes right past me. You don't need a special game for that, just look at the effort they put in each week during their regular matches and decide if you want them based on how they go. If they really want to do something they should just do what Mark Geyer said on the Sunday Roast this afternoon and have it as an U23's match or something.

City v Country or City Origin v Country Origin. Two different formats. The old days of City Firsts and seconds against Country firsts and seconds was only good because of the chance of win to Country. Making it Origin basis takes the game away from the country players. The City/Country Origin players all play in the NRL so there's no real point to the game now.

How The NRL allow this, is beyond me. QLD don't get the luxury, of having a pre match. It needs to be scrapped. NSW need a hint from QLD, Less is more!!!

I want to see Minichiello back on the field not worrying about injury. Last year he wasn't playing so well but I reckon he'll be good to watch.
