Why do teams keep giving Jack Cust a chance?

Maybe I am missing something. I can't understand why teams are willing to give Jack Cust a chance to prove himself. He is only a .243/.376/.443 hitter in a 10 year career. I just feel like there are better options for a team's DH or outfielder. What am I not seeing?
