Cheap accomodation in Dubrovnik and/or Split?
I would like to go to Croatia for two weeks this august with my boyfriend. I would like to stay one week in Dubrovnik and one week in Split. I have been searching for prices online, but i find that especially Dubrovnik is veeery expensive. Both hostels, pensions, appartmens and hotels cost more than 55 euro per day. Does anyone have any tips for staying at a cheaper price in Dubrovnik? Note: if it is a hostel i prefer private bathroom.
Hope to hear from some Croatians or other who have been there :)

Hmmm I am not so sure that you can get ANYTHING cheap in August in Dubrovnik considering that it is the height of the season and prices are mirroring that. Try browsing here http://www.online-croatia.com/apartmani/dubrovnik. My advice would be to see if you can find something that is not in the city itself like Župa Dubrovačka, Konavle, Cavtat and focusing your search there. Maybe looking for a private owner renting a room and/or apartment would be your best bet. Also if the price is really a problem and if you can, try looking for something in July or early September since the weather is virtually the same but the prices are a lower.
