why do the heat start Zydrunas Ilgauskas and Mike Bibby?

Ilgauskas was 0-3 and the team was -18 for the 10 minutes he played

Bibby was 0-6 and the team was -15 for the 14 minutes he played

Joel Anthony is the centerpiece of miami's defense and the team was +18 during Anthony's 34 minutes of play

Chalmers is a younger player and even though bibby is a veteran, that doesn't necessarily mean he's better. the heat need chalmers' energy on the defensive end more than bibby's 3 point shooting (0-4 today) on the offensive end. The heat was +13 when chalmers was on in 31 minutes today.

Thoughts?

Update:

Also, i like how the heat's best players outside of the big three are paid the least

James Jones - $1.1 million a year, the heats best 3 point shooter, extremely important for wade and lebron drive and dish

Joel Anthony - $3.3 million a year, the most important piece to miami's defense. he's the reason the heat have improved so much

Mario Chalmers - $850K a year, good ball movement and 3 point shooting

Miller - $5 million a year, has been extremely inconsistent and a disappointment

This is a topic that millions of fans in the NBA have wondered but ESPN has never covered. The only way to sum it up is assuming that Lebron &Wade don't want Chalmers & Anthony starting.

I would start Chalmers because he's a good defender and can also hit the 3. Bibby is a completely offensive player and he would be good coming off the bench to score some points when they needed it. Big Z is also mainly an offensive player at this point, he's not as good defensively as Joel Anthony or Eric Dampier but he's a better player than either of them. So I think against the 76ers they figured they would just go with their best offensive lineup. We'll see if they change things when the competition gets tougher.

Sparks off the bench and it works. What's better, attack a teams bench or starters? Which ones are weaker? lol

Joel is undersized for a center.

I wish Chalmers would play all 48 minutes though. He had 4 steals today, epic.

Bibby is fine but when he doesn't make his shots he's garbage. If he makes his 3's I don't mind his defense liability. Big Z missed easy put backs, Heat kept rushing everything today -_-

    He didn't even get rebounds

Chalmers was 3-9 FROM 3 POINT LINE though. Chalmers is an excellent defender but his shooting is horrible.

Illgauskas starts for his height. Bibby probably starts for his veteran status. But I don't think it's too big of a deal if they start or not. Look at the minutes played. The starters played fewer minutes than their bench counterparts.

Mike Bibby is playing like a bum. Big Z is in the game to get tip ins and shoot but he is doing either. He did play pretty well in game 3.

The Heat still lost today. Besides Lebron, D-Wade, and Bosh, they have absolutely no one. Their bench is pathetic and can't even keep a lead when they have to rest their stars.

Joel and Chalmers are sparks off the bench.

Even tho theyre not good, those two are their best options at those positions.
