My gums bleed when I brush my teeth. I'm paranoid!?

okay, earlier this week, whenever i brush my teeth, my gums (particularly in the front lower teeth) bleed a bit. it's not gushing or significantly bleeding but i do notice a small amount of blood in it.

earlier today, it was my first time to visit the dentist after more than a year. i had a general cleaning. the dentist said there was a fair amount of plaque/tartar already in my teeth which he removed.

the problem is, i'm a hypochondriac. i often fret over that my bleeding gums is caused by some malignancy or something! so just now, i brushed my teeth, there was still a small amount of blood in it.

should i expect my gums to not bleed anymore since i just came from the dentist or should i give it some time to heal? and if the dentist did see something suspicious with my gums/teeth wouldn't he have told me, right?

im panicking right now... :(

You had gingivitis. To prevent getting it you go to the dentist every year brush twice a day, floss and wash your mouth out with a fluoride rinse. Your gums still need time to heal. Even during the first week or two of flossing you will bleed but eventually it will stop. He would have only told you if it was serious. Early stages of gingivitis is not dangerous at all so they don't tell you.

My gums tend to bleed when I brush too hard or haven't been brushing well enough for a period of time. Seeing as it is not gushing, I wouldn't be too worried if I were you (I'm not a doctor though!) And yes -- The dentist would have told you. You should ask the dentist or a doctor about it if you really are concerned. But seriously, my gums bleed sometimes when I brush my teeth and I am alive and healthy :) Remember to use the evidence with these things :)

Gum bleeding can be very alarming. It is nothing to ignore, as it is a symptom that there are problems brewing in your mouth. It is important to floss between your teeth no less then once a day. Brush no less then twice a day. Food particles get trapped and begin to decay in the gums and cause redness, irritation and odor. Neglecting gum care can lead to gingivitis, pyorrhea and tooth loss. It is also important to eat a healthy diet and drink plenty of water.

Okay LIsten. When your teeth bleed when you brush your teeth is because you do not brush them enough. I used to have bleeding gums all the time when i was younger because i did not brush them like i should off. You just need to brush them more often. Also you can try getting a softer bristle brush for you teeth. Some kind of brush that wouldn't hurt your gums. Your welcome.

Its alright. Nothing wrong with that, if you floss your teeth and press down on the gums firmly between each tooth, in about 2 weeks your gums will be a lot tougher and probably stop bleeding completely. In the meantime try to avoid pressing your brush to hard on your gums.

Ok first of all DO NOT PANIC! this just means that your not flossing. Flossing should be done once a day everyday. If you don't want to use regular dental floss you can always use a water pick.
