Recovery disk and operatings system problem?

Hi! I have accidently installed Toshiba recovery disk in my Emachines laptop. After I've tried to install the correct disc, but it does not install it. I have contacted the manufatures for assistance and they told me to format it using operating system disc. But it does not recognize the disc. Will replacing a hard drive be a solution? Lastly I'm sorry i can't speak English clear

    If you have the windows installation cd and the product key, right click the hard drive and click format. Then just reinstall the system.
