when a car is left standing can the suspension collapse?

the car was left for about 3 weeks and the coil spring has broken is this normal?

    Possible, but very unlikely.

    its probably the way you had it sitting if there was too much stress on the wheel in a weird direction it would snap or it could have been damaged previously
