Laptop Power Problem?
I got a second-hand laptop for christmas.
It operated fine until february this year, where, although the mains charger was plugged in, and the laptop announced that it was "charging" yet the power would still decrease slowly. I didn't notice it did this until the start of this month. This problem occurs when there is not 100% battery (it would run on AC power just fine) and then when I proceed to put the charger in, the power still decreases.
The state of my laptop at present has got a lot worse, now it refuses to turn on at all when the charger is in. I literally cannot turn my laptop on, when I press the power button, nothing happens.
More details:
I have a Packard Bell Easynote H5
The battery is a rechargable Li-lon battery, 755-4S4000-S2S1, made by Samsung
Thanks for any help in advance : )
Thanks a lot for the current answers.
I will consider purchasing a new charger.
Are you sure it's not the battery pack which is damaged? Since the times when I have had full power, the laptop would work if the charger was plugged in.
Also, on some random occasions, the laptop would suddenly turn off for no reason. The last time it did this, I wasn't able to turn my laptop on again.
The joys of technology.

If the laptop does not turn on with the charger, that means the laptop charger is damaged. This means the power from the outlet is not reaching the laptop. The charger is the bridge that connects the two and when thats gone and your battery stops working, it no longer starts up.
You just need a new charger.
You can go online on sites like ebay or amazon but I would personally suggest you visit Topmic instead. Topmic is well known for their great services and their durable products. They include free shipping and free lifetime warranty. Yes, lifetime. This means if the charger ever stops working on its own for whatever reason, they would replace it as many times as needed at no additional cost, for life.
This is a great way to save money in the long run and a good investment as well.

Best of luck.

Laptop batteries last only about two years (depending on use). If this is a second hand laptop then I would say the battery is just about gone. Unless you need to be on battery power just use mains power.

It is a possibility that the power jack has broken loose from the motherboard and is not making contact, or your power circuit on the motherboard is faulty
