Do electric BBQ's work alright?

I'm tired of using propane, so I 'm considering buying an electric BBQ. I would like to know if anyone has used them before and what they are like. Thanks.

I have been using a small indoor electric grill for 15 years. It works great for cooking steak, chicken, and sausages. I will be so sad when it finally wears out. But, mine has only one setting. Your electric BBQ might be more versatile if it has heat output adjustment, or the grill can be moved closer or further away from the heat source. If you want a smoke flavor you can add liquid smoke to your marinade, though it is entirely possible that wood chips can be added in the same manner as to a gas grill.

You should look at brand name grills online to see if there are any reviews. Usually people who are satisfied with a product don't make a review. One should keep in mind that angry people are more likely to tell everyone about their unfortunate outcome. Still, you might be able to find out the strengths and weaknesses of each particular model. Also, take a trip to one of those BBQ specialty stores that sell grills. Even if you want to buy someplace else, the salespeople at these shops will be able to answer questions more completely.

Well, I've found them almost as good, but still prefer the open fire for BBQ. It seems almost unkind to use electric heat for a BBQ, you don't get the rich and lusty flavor from the flames. It does work well enough though, you just don't get the peaks of fire and heat that you would get from open flame..

It will work the same as a propane grill, just use the same lava type rocks.....
