What important thing must I do after formatting and rebooting my laptop? which softwares must I install first before i can do anything else? I just want my computer to run without any problem. My computer run Window Vista home basic operating system. I will appreciate you help.

Install the network driver if you can't get online.
Once you get online run Windows Update and download all service packs, critical updates, and drivers.
After those are all installed get an anti-virus program. I suggest Microsoft Security Essentials. If you have any online accounts, make sure they have strong passwords. Follow the link to a guide and never reuse passwords.
Avoid risky behavior online. Don't download pirated music, movies, or software. They may contain viruses or other malware.
Make sure you're running the latest version of your favorite web browser. If you have Firefox, get AdBlock Plus. Noscript is another popular add-on.
