Introducing yourself?
When you are accompanied with someone, are they supposed to introduce you? Is it proper to introduce yourself?

Well if the jerk forgets to introduce you, yes, introduce yourself. That will embarrass him as he should be embarrassed and not do it again. When they say their name repeat it out load. If it could lead to some sort of friendship or if you are doing business say your full name. That makes you very important.

When you're with someone, and meet another person, the person who knows both of you should introduce you to each other. You might be able to jump-start this process by giving your friend a significant "look".
Give your friend plenty of time to make the introduction. If the conversation goes on for more than ten minutes, I'd say it would be permissible for you to say, "By the way, I'm Kim Jones. It's nice to meet you." The other person should then tell you his or her name, or your friend might belatedly remember to do so. But if the other person seems a little stand-offish, don't push it.

If your companion knows the other person, he should introduce you. Otherwise you can introduce yourself.
