You could try pure tea tree oil, you can find it at the health food store. It has soothing qualities that help irritated skin, which is why it's often used in men's aftershave. It also will kill pests such as ear mites, and deters other bugs. When I got scabies (I was an active duty Marine, got it from a bus we were riding) I used tea tree oil instead of the harsh chemicals prescribed to me, and it helped sooth the itching as well as kill off the pests under my skin. I used it on my horse when he suffered an adverse reaction to horsefly bites, and it worked wonders for him as well. My mom used it on my sister when she had head lice, and it worked great for that too! There is also tea tree oil lotion and ear wash for dogs in the homeopathic section of the pet store, so I think it's worth trying. :)

I would say that it is very possible that the plucking could cause the itching...If your dogs skin in the ear is overly dry or flaky that could cause it too. If you look in your dogs ear and see brown patches/ gunk than your dog might have ear mites and that could cause the itchiness. If your dog has the brown patchy/gunk in his ear than take him to the vet and they will most likely give him ear drops that will help =D If not it is very possible that his ear is just irritated and or that new hair is trying to grow through and making him itch.

A small amount of Lanacort or Lanacaine at the opening of the ear canal may help. Have the ear examined by your vet if it lasts longer than a couple of days. If the vet says it is a bacterial or yeast infection Zymox Otic is better than anything I have bought from a vet. It is available online and at some pet supply stores.

If he had a lot of ear hair, his ears could be irritated.. The hair in the ear does not have a root as the rest of their hair does, but if there is enough it will still be irritated for a day or two.

Breeds of dogs that need there ears plucked are prone to ear problems as the air can get to them as easy. Please don't put anything down your dogs ears you could make them worse. You need to get them checked out by your vet as he may have infection or simple really dirty ears but your need drops from your vet.

I believe that when the hair grows back then it can itch as it does with us, however, I would double check that they have not caused a problem and got any chemicals or shampoo down the ear.
If it keeps on then get it checked out.

Have a look and make sure there isnt a grass seed in there or anything else. If its still itching then ring the grooming parlour for advice.
