How can i get the confidence to act?
I've never done anything like this before so i dont know where to start or anything. But i'm starting school in the summer and i wanna take some classes so i can get my feet wet to see if this is for me. I've always loved the idea of becoming an actor, and i'm no fool to think that just because i want to be an actor i'll be successful, much less like it. But if anything i just want to see what its like so i can decide for myself if i want to pursue it. But anyways enough background haha, i just want some advice on what i can do open up myself from my shyness. Yes, i'm very shy and i hate. I'm fairly confident, some acne but nothing major though and i'm pretty good looking, just very shy. Anything anyone says would be pretty helpful, thanks in advance

I am a seasoned actor and know what you are talking about. If you truly convince yourself you are this person and are doing these thing it is easy. Also you need to take you nervousness and step on it then use its energy to make yourself better. Trust me it works.

Hi i'm an actress (been in two west end shows and in two casting agencies), so to help I think you should start off with finding out if there are any drama classes or groups in your area because I know from experience that going to a drama group and working with people who are in the same position as you and have the same interests as you can really help with confidence and also it's a great way to make new friends and meet other people in the industry such as other actors and directors which is very good. Stagecoach Theatre Arts School is an amazing drama school, it's quite expensive but it helped me build my confidence and it gives you acting opportunities that other drama schools can't give you. Hope that helps.

Hi - you can do it. Go to a class and see how it goes.
Sure, you'll feel shy at first, but after a while you'll gain confidence. You just have to go through the first few scary weeks - everyone does. One good piece of advice I was given - remember to breathe, and smile. That really helps!
Then, when there are plays being performed, start very small - one-line parts in tiny plays, and work up.
Before you know it you'll be auditioning for the lead.
Be brave - if you don't try, you don't get.
Good luck!
