Mike Tyson vs Tim Witherspoon?

Terrible Tim is probably the best of the partial champions that iron mike didn't face. How would this one go?

12 rounds, circa '87 / '88.

If Terrible Tim is in shape and comes to fight, he could have possibly upset Iron Mike but he would have had to do it before Tyson got to him first. Witherspoon would probably not elect to slug it out with Tyson and this would probably turn into a boring contest much like Tyson's fight with Bonecrusher Smith. I believe Tyson takes the fight to Terrible Tim and drops him in the 6th and 8th rounds and wins the easy decision.

    Tim Witherspoon Boxer

Prime Tyson would have won a unanimous points decision against Witherspoon, at his best, as Tim was nothing to be scoffed at on a good day. Although he did have his bad days as well ie losing in 1 round to James "Bonecrusher" Smith in their rematch after beating Smith in their first fight. Although Smith could certainly bang ie knocked out Witherspoon and Weaver in 1 one round and stopped Frank Bruno in 10 rounds whereas it took prime Larry Holmes 12 rounds to stop Weaver and a young Lennox Lewis 6 rounds to knockout 40 - year - old Mike Weaver. Although Weaver also lost in the first round (62 seconds or something like that) to Michael Dokes as well - albeit controversially - and Dokes was hardly renowned for his devastating punching power lol. Their rematch finished in a draw with Dokes retaining his title.

forget the bonecrusher vs witherspoon debacle.... witherspoon replaced into solid while in shape. he could have given tyson some issues early on, however the 1987 tyson with kevin rooney in his corner gets returned into it and ko's a tiring witherspoon in 10 rounds.

  • Tyson would have gotten inside on Witherspoorn and would have scored an early round stoppage, similar to that of what James "Bonecrusher" Smith did to him in their rematch. Witherspoon had a KO punch, but Tyson had better power and faster hands. It wouldn't have been a fair fight.
