Who are the largest manufacturers of ECUs?
Hi,
I'm currently doing an assignment and trying to discover which companies are the largest manufacturers of engine control units (ECU)? If you have any additional data such as how many they produce etc that would be fantastic.

I work in the engine control industry, and this seemingly simple question, is actually mored difficult to answer than you might think.
The first question is, are you talking about ECU's ONLY, or are you willing to consider PCUs (powertrain control modules). that control both the engine and transmission?
The short answer is Robert Bosch, Continental and Denso. Keep in mind, all cars manufactured today have electronic control, so we are talking about millions of ECU's per year.

Motorola had a big factory at Stotfold, but there are other companies, Bosch etc.
