10 month old not sleeping through the night, any tips?

After 10 months of sleepless nights I'm absolutely shattered! Does anyone have any tips to help me get my little one to sleep through the night. This is her current routine...

7am feed (she's still breastfed)

8am baby cereal

8.30am nap (anywhere from half an hour to an hour)

10am milk feed and pureed fruit

12pm lunch

1pm milk feed

2pm sleep (again half an hour to an hour and a half)

4pm milk feed and yoghurt

6pm dinner

7pm bath

7.30pm milk feed and bowl of porridge

8pm bed

I've been giving her water when she wakens during the night but she doesn't want it, I think she just wants a cuddle! Last night she woke at midnight, 2am, 3am, 5.20am and I finally got her up at 6.30am. Her pediatrician said that she should be able to sleep through the night now and I'm at my wits end I'm so tired. I've got a 2 year old toddler too so I can't even nap when the baby naps as my toddler wants her mum's attention! My 2 year old slept through the night from 3 months of age and was on the same routine as my baby. Does anyone have any tips to help her sleep through the night?? Thanks!

PS For the past week I've been letting her cry when she wakens but the crying can go on for an hour at a time, it's not getting any less so the CIO method isn't helping either!

hi, ah you must be exhausted.

you have checked with doc and they have confirmed she is physically capable of sleeping through so it sounds to me that its a comfort/habit thing why she wakes up. And i know you dont want to hear it, but controlled crying is the answer. It might take days, even weeks, but it will work.

she is waking and crying for you to help her get back to sleep so you need to break that habit. All babies wake up, but the key is getting them to settle back to sleep alone, without your help.

i used a little night light thing when putting my baby down to sleep, it projected images onto ceiling, and played soothing music. it had a timer on for 5 or 10 mins. Once i had checked my baby was ok, i would put him down and turn on night light. No matter how much he screamed, i would not go back in until night light finished. Sometimes i would have to repeat this process a few times, other times it ony took one time.

Its hard when they wake up in night, i totally understand, so i would check he was ok, pick him up, if he stopped crying, i knew he was ok, so i would give him little cuddle, not talk to him apart from shh shh noises, no eye contact, just a cuddle, then put him back down. Put night light on and leave.

    And repeat.

The porridge at 730pm in my opinion seems a bit much before bedtime? I would give her her dinner at 4pm, with a yoghurt for dessert . Then after the bath, a milk feed only.

I would start the day at 7am as you do, but start bedtime earlier. I would have my baby in bath no later than 6pm, and he would be asleep by 7pm, sleeping until 7am. And i never let him sleep after 3.30pm.

    good luck xx
