how hard is it to move to Australia?

Basically, i am 17 (18 in december) and from Manchester, England, and my best friend is moving to Australia with her family next summer. Obviously i was so so gutted, then she offered me to come with her? Apparantly it's really hard to move over anyway, and it's only because her dad has been offered a 2 year contracted job over there that her family are able to move, obviously i am not family, so how complicated/hard would it be to move? it seems like such a good oppertunity but i don't want to get my hopes up if there is little chance of me being able to do so xxx

After you turn 18, you'll be able to get a 12 month Working Holiday visa which can be extended to 24 months if you do 88 days of rural type work (e.g. fruit picking, planting, pruning) in a regional area during the first 12 months.

    http://www.immi.gov.au/visitors/working-holiday/41... Working Holiday visa

Just as well they're only going for 2 years though as at the end of your WHV/s, you will have to leave Australia as there is no other visa for which you will be eligible that would allow you to stay any longer.

Before you turn 18, the only way you could come to Australia would be as a tourist and you wouldn't be allowed to work at all during your visit. WHVs can only be applied for offshore so if you were to come as a tourist to begin with, you would have to leave Australia to apply for your WHV.

this is extra hardship-free to immigrate once you've skills that Australia extremely needs, try searching on the pro information superhighway web site, or the Phil Down below software on channel 4 had some extremely good advice about transferring in yet another united states. truly they are seeking for individuals who've college ranges, or have secured a job obtainable. in case you determine a organisation in Australia you'll want to employ a minimum of two human beings. they actually have a reduce off age, human beings over 50 do not stand a lot of a probability, in the experience that they do get in they could't bypass contained in the rustic back, they ought to stay interior a similar homestead! good success x

It's easier to immigrate if you have skills that Australia really wants, try looking at the official website, or the Phil Down Under program on channel 4 had some really good advice about moving abroad. Basically they're looking for people who have university degrees, or have secured a job out there. If you set up a business in Australia you will need to hire a minimum of 2 people. They also have a cut off age, people over 50 don't stand much of a chance, if they do get in they can't move in the country again, they have to stay in the same house!

    Good luck x

  • I'm not totally sure, but I think you need to apply for a working visa if you don't have a contract with an employer. In another case I heard that depending how long you want to extend your visiting you have to prove an certain amount of money.

Things that help are: having a pre-arrangement for accommodation and a job, a little bit like for someone not from the EU who comes into the UK and the money thing like the "american way".

The problem of staying longer than 6 months will come up when you wanna come back to UK ... if you didn't pay the extension.

Living permanently shouldn't be impossible, probably a travel agent can give you better informations then me.

I'd loved to move to Australia too !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go for it !!!!!

Easy peasy, esspesially at your age.

I would recomend applying for a working holliday visa, this will make you a backpacker, give you work opertunities(there heaps of work in Australia- no expierence needed) It will also give you one year to get to discover Australia, while having the freedom to travel to local countries like indonesia and new zealand. (a break in bali is unbeatable and a ski holliday in NZ is pretty close to divine)

Before your time is up work for three months in a regional area in primary industy, theres a long list of options. Then they will grant you a visa extension of another year.

It is hard to get into Australia once you are over 30. Then you need to prove you have skills.

Skip that get out here early travel have fun and your here for at least two years.

If you decide you love Australia (and you might) there are options, fiancee visa marriage or if cupid didnt hit you in the butt you can seek a sponsership with anyone who is hiring you.

Even if you decide australia is not for you its a blast to explore the country and get out there and work it. I wouldnt waste any time, once you have finished school , jump on and apply for the visa.

the only way for you is a 12month working holiday visa WHEN your 18,there is no other visa you qualify for.

if you do 3 months specified work while on your first WHV you can qualify to stay for second year
