In either WWI or WWII a German pilot was shot down over England and given full military honors. When was this?

The pilot's body was then sent back to der Vaterland.

I'm not sure about whether any the bodies of any German pilots were repatriated. The only war cemetery in Britain which was specially created to hold the bodies of Germans who died during WW1 and WW2 is at Cannock Chase, Staffordshire.

The Geneva Convention provides for a proper burial. But they usually don't send the bodies back.

Are you thinking about Baron Von Richtofen? He was shot down in France and buried with full military honours in WW1. This was not uncommon for airmen in those days, but Richtofen was a pretty well respected pilot, so it was a big affair with a 21 gun salute and a fly-over.
