What are lasting impressions?

Sometimes lasting impressions are the smallest of things. I've had many inspirational characters in my life, yet some of the most lasting impressions were those from people whom I never expected.

My best friend growing up was kind of a tough guy. He grew up in the south with only brothers, one older and two younger. All of these kids were tall, athletic and built well. When I'd go over there, we would all fight, and boy did we beat the crap out of each other. We all played football and one of my best friend's little bothers was close enough in age to play on the team with us. Practice was so annoying sometimes because they were always fighting. At first we would all laugh and every once and while all start wrestling until we got in trouble. After a while it was just annoying. Anyway, the gist of it is, these guys were tough, but they were good guys. Especially my best friend.

I had always known that he was mostly a tough exterior, and was just a regular kid on the interior. SInce we were best friends, we talked about girls and family, so I always knew there was more than meets the eye.

Well the lasting impression came when his little brother, who is actually a whole 7 inches taller than him, joined the National Guard. This kid had been arrested for things, and kicked out for things, but when the day came for him to make a real decision in his life, his older brother, my best friend gave me an impression I'll never forget. After he left for boot camp things were normal, almost as if he never had left. And then I remember the day he came back. His mom, brothers, me and like 13 other people came to his house waiting to see this kid after his dad went to pick him up. Once he arrived I'm sure you can imagine your typical homecoming. It was all laughing, smiling, and joking. Then I remember when people started dispersing about the house conversing with one another, I realized I had no one to talk to since my wingman was still standing by in the living room. Almost as soon as I saw him, my throat sank. In like a clearing by himself, my macho jock tough guy best friend had tears streaming down his face like a kid who skinned their knee. I couldn't even bare to look at him myself, just the sight of such a thing ripped me to shreds.

I don't know if it's because He was a close friend to me, or if it was just the first time i saw him cry, but that 'impression' if you will, has lasted me a long time, and could never escape my memory.

lasting impressions of a true friend:

it was wen i had a good-friend who sort of liked me....he was in my school........once v had a fight n i cried over it for hours.....(i'm very emotional)..........

also i had a best friend (not of my school) who was a boy too.....wen i said him about the boy at school n the fight he was angry n he said some bad things about my school friend.....

i didn't like insulting my school friend by a person who didn't knew him at all........n i said so to my best friend.....

in reply he said me something which i can never forget ever in my life......he said:" When u feel so hurt just by listening to an insult of your friend, how can u think that i can bear the tears of my best friend?"
