City v Country- What if it meant anything?

I'm thinking that if the game itself was a be-all-and-end-all for Origin selection, would we be facing the prospect of Hinchcliffe as Hooker? I like Hinchcliffe, but the prospect of him playing Origin seems somewhat absurd.

Comments?

Update:

Diet First- All real NSW fans want Farah in, despite Ennis having much more experience than him at that level?

All true Scotsmen must enjoy haggis then (Look up 'No true Scotsman' on wiki if you don't get it).

It's only fans from Sydney who say that the City v Country match doesn't mean anything. Queenslanders are happy to see potential NSW players possibly sustaining injury and bashing each other up.

The whole point of the City v Country match is for a promotional tool to promote the game in the bush and country NSW. It is also used as a Origin selection tool to see how players perform outside club football and in mixed company. It is particularly valuable now that most of the Test side consists of Queenslanders.

Yes the concept of Hinchcliffe being starting hooker for NSW is absurd, but given nobody but real NSW fans want Robbie Farah to play Origin football, it doesn't surprise that the media are pumping him up.

The whole point of city v country is a selection trial for playing for NSW which is then a selection trial for Australian positions. That city v country is played before SOO and at the same time as a test, it does seem somewhat inconsequential. All its done is to have players miss out on their club games this weekend and reduce the number of games on.
