What should I expect to pay below MSRP?
What should I expect to pay (after bartering with sales people) below MSRP ($8,090) for a new 2010 Yamaha VSTAR 950 base model motorcycle?

With motorcycles, you should never Expect that you'll be able to pay below MSRP. There's not enough profit margin in the difference between what the dealer pays and MSRP to allow for negotiation and have the dealer stay in business. Since their goal is to stay in business, they will pass on your efforts to buy and wait for the next person.
But you should also NOT pay for anything past MSRP (except tax/tags/title) either.
I know a few who have gotten under MSRP, but as Harvey pointed out, that was done in the middle of the "off" season, on a prior year model and for someone who's been a repeat buyer.
Enjoy that instant depreciation though. It's why I don't (and won't) buy new. No sense in just throwing money away, you gain nothing for it.

Good luck
Gas is getting higher, if you haven't noticed. There will be no haggling at the bike shop this summer. If you don't take there price, the next guy will.
The time to haggle is about mid-January...
