How to obtain a motorcycle license.?

Im trying to obtain a motorcycle license/permit. But in order to receive a license you must ride 3 months with a licensed motorcyclist, but I don't have anyone that is licensed. How can I obtain it without the driver? The state I live in is Illinois. Please help. Im also 16.

The simple way around that is to take the MSF BRC: Motorcycle Safety Foundation Basic Riders Course. You can find one near you here:

    http://online2.msf-usa.org/msf/Default.aspx

Passing that course completely passes the "permit" stage and puts you right in the "full motorcycle endorsement" position. Makes you safer for the training as well as lowering insurance (somethign you'll appreciate being 16).

I don't live in Illinois so I am not sure what you are saying is true or not but it doesn't really make any sense because in California a person with a Motorcycle permit is not allowed to have any passengers, can not ride after dark or ride up on any freeway.

I went to the Illinois motor vehicle department (see link below) and it appears that similar to California you can take a (IDOT which I assume to be Illinois Department of Transportation) Motorcycle Rider Course. Take the course, pass the written test (at the motor vehicle department) and you will not even have to take the driving test.

Good luck and have fun riding.
