Is it correct that dogs cannot eat grapes or raisins?
I have been told that dogs cannot eat grapes, raisins, or nuts, but peanut butter is "good for them". I know about chocolate. What's the reason for grapes?

Even a few grapes or raisins have killed some dogs. At one time it was though to be the mold on the skin, but perhaps not. Just why isn't clear yet. I first heard about it in 2006 in a talk by a vet. It is unfortunate people here are telling others that grapes and raisins are nothing to worry about.
I think some nuts are OK, but not macadamia nuts, and perhaps almonds. Peanuts aren't nuts, and peanut butter is OK. However like many other things, it is not a complete and balanced diet and should be limited.

There is a chemical within the grape that can be detrimental to a dogs health-- but I have yet to see a dog get sick from having a few as a treat every once in a while. Peanuts are not nuts-- they are legumes--that is why they are 'ok' Tree nuts-- I think are just very hard for a dog to digest-- very irritating to the gut lining.

for something so possible to occur, why would it not be well known about the dangers. Dogs of course,
eat anything resembling food. If this danger was real, I think the muti-millions of dog owners would be
aware of such possibilities. I'm a dog lover{exception, bit bulls) and have never heard of this absurdity.

no dogs cant eat grapes because of the certain acid in them their stomach cannot break down the hard skin and it can lead to stomack problems and kidney failure, its not so much the grape itself its the components of it mostly the skin
