High School Science Course Question Help!?
Okay, so I in the future, I would like to be in the medical field. I didn't know if I should take both Chemistry and Physics my sophomore year of high school. I mean, I really want to, but I also am very dedicated to band and it supposedly looks good for getting into college. I also want to be in the top of my class, but it would be difficult to be in both chemistry and physics because all my electives would be filled. Is there anyone that has had a similar dilemma? Please help!

I was in a similar situation myself. My school, however, had a relatively set path for us in way of the sciences. In sophomore year, we all had to take chemistry. In junior year, we all had to take physics if we wanted to continue onto the APs. Being the brilliant girl I was, I had the great idea of doubling up on physics and AP Bio, with the hopes that AP Chemistry *might* be offered my senior year. So, I practically killed myself writing labs, missing lessons, practicing trumpet extra hard at home and still managed to make time for the school play for pit orchestra. With all the amazing luck I had, AP Chem was cancelled in my school. So, I went and took it at college at night.
Basically, don't double up on your sciences yet. You need the stuff you learn from chem in physics, and the stuff you learn in physics gets applied right back into chem. If you want, you can double up on physics and an AP, but it will be one of the most difficult course loads you will ever experience (excluding medical school, or so I've heard).
Anyways, good luck. You'll be in a great spot for the competitiveness of the colleges, so long as your able to maintain at least a B in both courses. For me, it paid off in the end. Even night school. I got into my first choice with a scholarship. I hope you'll have the same luck in a few years. :)

Is there a reason why you'd take both chemistry and physics in sophomore year? It's do-able, but wouldn't it be better to spread your sciences throughout your high school career?
If you're squeezing sciences into fewer years in order to qualify for AP classes in your future years, you may want to consider taking your prep classes during the summer. Taking summer classes also looks great on college applications, as it shows colleges that you do more with your time and are dedicated to your education.

i think you must go in for biology and chemistry to get into the medical field. you being dedicated to band alone is not going to help. you will need to find a way to strike a balance between academics and extra-curricular. its tough, but not impossible....check the link given below, hope it will help you dividing your time between the two.
good luck to you.
