    This a great example of a one-step equation:

    Parenthesis

    Exponents

    Multiplication

    Division

    Addition

    Subtract

    *Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally*

    10+5x6 = ?

    Multiplication comes first: 5 x 6 = 30

    Lastly, you add the two numbers together: 10 + 30 = 40

    Your final answer is 40.

    Remember to break the equation down to find the correct answer.

    Once you get into parenthesis and exponents, it will get a little more advanced, especially when you start working on two-step, three-step, etc equations.

    (5x6)+10

    5x6 = 30 +10 = 40

    value = 40
