I need help applying for HUD for the first time. How can I get the help?

Was forced to retire early and am now on a fixed income. I was told to apply for HUD housing,but I dont have a clue.

    You call the housing authority, it is a county office.

    If you aren't on disability you will not be seen as "retired".

    HUD has both homes for sale and subsidized rental housing. I dont know which program you want. You can go to the HUD website and search.

    I only know personally about Section 8 but there are other programs. The Housing Authority waitlist in every county is several years even if you are a senior or disabled. Some counties in every state are closed to new applications.

    There are many reduced rent senior apartments everywhere. Do a search for those or inquire with other people or at a senior center, whatever your resource for info is on senior services.
