With iPods and iTunes...?

Ok, so my iTunes (& iPod) both constantly tell me to update or whatever...

I'm just wondering, if I update both the iPod & the iTunes, will they still work, 'cause I remember plugging my friends iPod in, and it didn't work because the versions 'weren't compatible' or whatever...

I don't want to update anything if it'll make everything incompatible, but I need to update iTunes because my iTunes store isn't working & won't work until I update (I've never updated since I got it, 4 years ago).

So, in short, if I update both my iTunes & my iPod, will they still work with each other? (I have an iPod Nano 3G).

    update the software without any fear, they will still work as they are, but it is recommended that you should backup data before update. Good luck

    Ipod are set so that they only work on one computer/mac, if your friends updated there Ipod on your computer it would of have deleted all the old song/etc on your friends ipod. Apple have done this to stop people giving away 'free' music, that has previously been downloaded off the itunes store, to there friends/family.

    Your Ipod should still work, because itunes and Ipods aremeantt to work with each other. If you dont have itunes you cant put music into your Ipod, there shouldn't be any problems with the uptade.

    You dont realy need the update, but if you are not thinking of hacking your ipod any time soon then i would get the update.

    updating your ipod is always optional. I've never really found any reason to update it. and ive actually kept mine from updating due to my mods of it.. updating itunes shouldn't cause any problems. I've updated mine plenty of times and it has no problems with my ipod. so yes they will still work if you update them
