How would you explain this?

The question is: The radius of a hydrogen atom is about 0.000000106 millimeters. Write the length of the radius in scientific notation.

I did that.....

And then it said: On the lines below, explain how you got your answer.

How would you explain it and yet be precise?

    You move the decimal point until it is after the first non-zero digit, counting the place moves (this number will be the exponent of 10, which will be negative since the number is < 1). Then drop all the zeros to the left of the first non-zero digit. 1.06 x 10 ^ -7
