Just a question to those who believe the universe is young?

I'm just curious about what your explanation of

supernovae (when a star explodes and lets off huge amounts of light) and nebulae (the remnants of the star, consisting of huge clouds of star dust) are.

I know that a lot of you think that your god just

made the light in transit from the original source

explaining why we can see stars which are millions of light years away but what about supernovae?

An example would be the crab nebulae. This amazing cosmological beauty is located 6500 light years away.

We can not see it as it is. We can only see it as it was millenia ago.

It is remnants of a giant star that exploded thousands of years ago. Both Chinese and Arab

astronomers saw this explosion in the year 1054 and since it's 6500 light years away, this explosion happened before the universe was created.

There are many more supernovae, the furthest being 10 billion light years away. This star apparently exploded 10 billion years before the universe was created.

Why would a god create light from a star even though that star isn't there anymore?

Surely if the universe was young, we would never see supernovae from stars more than 6000 light years away.

Why would we see a see a star explode when there never was a star in the first place?

If you insist that the universe is young, you have to admit that this god is a very deceptive, sly god, not worthy of any respect.

Update:

Thanks WellTravelledProg

I added nebulae to my phone dictionary and when writing long posts like this, It just thinks I misspelled the word. Now checking back over it, I'm glad that at least it didn't screw up the sources.

    Just FYI:

Most nebulae are *not* supernova remnants, though some are.

And when you use it in the singular, such as "Crab Nebula," there's no "e" at the end (which indicates plural in Latin).

    Peace.

The typical answer would be that the universe was created with the appearance of being old. That either these galaxies etc aren't that far away of the light was created 'in transit' to us.

In other words, their God is deliberately lying and deceitful.

LOL - I love the way you put all your faith in scientists. It's a lot like the way creationists put all their faith in clerics.

Wasn't it scientists who used to say the sun orbited the earth along with all the other planets? They got that wrong, didn't they? And wasn't it scientists who used to say that the atom was the smallest unit of matter? What else? Oh, yeah: when I was at school we were given mercury to play with because in those days science said it was perfectly safe. Then there was the thalidomide pill, as approved by science. The list goes on, and on, and onnnnnnn.

So just imagine what tomorrow will show science has got wrong today...

"this explosion happened before the universe was created"

I just wanted to point out that is only according to their idiotic view of a <10,000 year old universe. I'm sure you knew, but you can't humor them like that, they'll never learn anything if you don't stress the point that what they believe is contradictory to any speck of rational thought and the current scientific evidence.

one hundred ten% have self belief it quite is of that age. 640% have self belief it quite is plenty older. approximately 8/3's of all people are quite undesirable at math and could't even do uncomplicated fractions. the two figures are increasing...... How approximately this alarming parent - the load of the earth is consistently increasing, and has using fact it first cooled down! Doubt me? properly.... the earth is consistently bombarded with tiny and not so tiny meteorites every day. provides as much as a lot of weight each and every day. in line with possibility it quite is pushing the earth closer to the sunlight, inflicting glow-ball climate exchange... not guy-made in spite of everything! could you be touched by skill of the noodley appendage of the FSM! .

Thank you, my friend. I can think of no dumb argument that could possibly be raised against that. You've just officially defeated Young Earth Creationism. :-D

The speed of light has changed! You can not prov it is constant! You know nothing of science!
