So when it's confirmed that Serena Williams has withdrawn from French Open 2011...Whom are u rooting for?

So what we all were expecting happened....Serena Williams going to miss her 3rd consecutive Grand Slam event. She announced it 2day.....

http://thesouthern.com/sports/tennis/article_c7b87...

Dinara Safina has withdrawn as well.

Venus is uncertain too....

SO FOR WHICH WOMEN U WILL PUT YOUR MONEY ON!!!!!!!

BQ: Even though Serena wasn't a very good clay court player.....do u think her absence will make any impact!!!!!!

Update:

@Mexi : u never give up for revenge lol......well I'm not PhD in English but I guess WHOM are u rooting isn't a wrong English either :)

& I'm happy that u will miss Serena :)

Update 2:

    Wow that is unbelievably disappointing.

I really wanted Safina to come through strong this year because she has shown incredible fight and grit as she's had to endure that horrendous back injury. Even though I hate to admit it...I am also crushed the Serena Williams will not be playing in the upcoming Major as well. The WTA without Serena is like the NBA without Kobe Bryant.

I have no idea who I'm putting my money on yet. Everyone has had such inconsistent results this entire clay court season. I will not "crown" a winner until I get to analyze the WTA draw in depth. Who am I rooting for, though? Jelena Jankovic

EDIT: It is actually "who are you rooting for" not "whom are you rooting for". Just thought you should know <3

EDIT #2: I couldn't help but notice you made another grammatical error: "WHOM are u rooting isn't a wrong English either". The "a" should be deleted from the sentence. Lol

Kim Clijster is my favorite to win, but even she is not certain to play at Roland Garros. In the absence of Serena and Kim, I will root for Sharapova, for sentimental reasons. She hasn't won any major for quite sometime now. But then again, this is the French Open. This is the Slam in which almost every other player has the potential to win. Remember Schiavone? Whoever thought she would win last year?

Serena withdrawing is a huge disappointment for me!

I have to say it was expected, but it's still awful..She has missed almost a year of tennis and I don't know if she'll ever be back...As for Venus I think she will withdraw too...I don't know about Clijsters, but I think she will play...

I will be rooting for Sharapova and Azarenka of course :)

I know they wont win,but hopefully they can make deep runs! I don't think there is a favorite! Maybe it's Wozniacki, but she has never been good on red clay and is very beatable....We will see what happens in Rome and then we can judge!

As for the ATP there is no doubt Djokovic is winning. He is the new clay GOAT and I think he will win Wimbledon and the US Open too :)

Yes, and with Clijsters uncertain as well, it's open for a NEW PLAYER to step up and claim a slam for the FIRST TIME.

I, for one, am looking at Azarenka, Ivanovic, Goerges and if Zvonareva can get her emotions in check, this could be HER TITLE. Both Azarenka and Goerges are playing just unbelieveable tennis. They very well could be considered as the 'sleepers' in the French Open.

BQ: Serena's absence will make an impact, if no other way but to provide the other tennis players with increased confidence that THEY CAN WIN IT. After all, Clijsters and Serena are the BIGGEST NAMES that could appear on ANY tourney roster. Without them, the others have GREAT HOPE.

I didn't expect her to play nor do I expect Venus to play. Safina withdrawing is a bit of a surprise but I know she has had trouble with her back injury recently.

I wasn't going to support Serena anyway :) I will be supporting Kuznetsova, Schiavone, Petkovic and Goerges XD

I have no idea who will win :)

BQ: I don't think it makes much of a difference that Serena isn't playing...

im rooting for zvonereva and azarenka, after those 2 i would want kim to win.

serena's absence will have an impact, no matter if its a players worst surface you never want to be drawn against someone as talented and confident as serena!

I'm supporting Azarenka and Wozniacki. Of course, I believe that Schiavone could be a possible threat as well!

    OIN ! , i havent talked to you in a while .

Anyways ill be rooting for Sharapova because she needs to prove to everyone that she can play on clay & its the only grand slam she's missing :/ and Azarenka because im ready for her to break through already and win a slam !

I'm rooting for Caro and Kim (realistically they can win). I hope Kim is 100% healthy so she can give it her best.

But I'm also rooting for my other faves who can be dark-horses: Pennetta, Ivanovic, Pavlyuchenkova, Goerges, Petkovic, and Hercog

    I'll root for Carolyn W.

As to Serena withdrawing, who cares? The effect that has is the tournament will be more pleasant to watch.
