Where do bead stores buy their beads?
Where do retailers like Potomac Beads and smaller retail shops buy their beads? I can buy beads online at wholesale prices through companies like Fire Mountain, but I'm looking for a source for bulk purchases. Potomac buys those long shanks of beads, which is what I would like to be able to do. They need a book for people who are just getting started! :-)

I have no idea where Potomac Beads or any other specific retailer purchases their beads. I do know, however, a couple of their choices. I've never ordered enough to use Gets Beads but their stuff and their prices look great. The quantities are large.
I have used Fire Mtn, however, and know they do sell seed beads in hanks. (Not shank, hank. Do an in-site search for "hank" and you'll find them.) If you order enough different items at once, you can get these for under $3.- per hank. If you are looking for other beads that come in hanks, I don't know which ones you mean.
I have also used 8 Season Supplies. They sell wholesale and have excellent prices. I don't know if they have seed beads or not. You can always check. 8 Season also has a wholesale knitting & crochet supplies site. If you want to branch out into selling other crafts supplies, check that, too. If you use the site that has the extra S (8seasons) in it, that takes you to several 8 Season sites.

Being the UK AND IRELAND Yahoo we unluckily wouldn't have a wal-mart right here. We have a store referred to as Primark and they are in the entire primary towns. There's a few in America too honestly. There's one within the large apple. You should purchase beaded necklaces there for £one million, so I'm guessing in America they are going to be approximately $two. Good good fortune.

They buy from wholesalers or manufacturers. Fire Mountain is a good source, and they can offer bulk items. You can also buy from sources in Asia online.
