From where you get your strength and motive....?

Like the question asks.. e.g.: If you are an artist, what motivates you to improve?

Or if you are a clever person from the kind that you could have a job like a lawyer, what motivates you to be better? Is it the competition? The challenge of the case? Being the best??

In all my life years, since i was so young till now, if my motive wasnt on top and one of the best, then i have no intention to do things at all! Is it normal? Like I have no motive as i am doin whatever i do to improve a skill, but to be on top, cuz less doesnt worth it! i tried to deal with this for years but still nothing works as better motivation.... so im askin you guys :/???

so if you can't be the best at it, you wouldnt bother?

By your measurement of 'best', are you comparing yourself to other people, or to the best of your abilities? It sounds like a self consious thing to me, where you just want to be higher than others. (which isnt a bad thing since it makes you strive at what you do strive for). it will just be a personal struggle for you to be OK that you are doing something where someone else gets the spot light and are better than you at. . .
