I have a really high arch. What types of ballet slippers should I look at?
I am starting ballet in a few weeks and I need to get ballet slippers. I have a unusually high arch. What brands have a high arch? And can I put inserts into the slippers? I know I have to go to a store and get fitted, but what brands are good for people with high arches?

A soft ballet slipper conforms to your arch and has little support. Full sole slippers have more than split soles. You don't wear and insert with ballet slippers.
For ballet dancers, there is not such thing as an unusually high arch. That is called a ballet foot. Many have feet shaped like the letter "C" their arch is so high. http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z287/wanderinga...

What ever slipper feels the most comfortable will be what you should go for. Sansha tends to fall apart. You will have to pick from what is available at your local store. I suggest you try Bloch because they are made well and many professional dancers use them. Make sure they fit snugly, but not so snug that our toes curl under. Leather will help build strength in your arch and will stretch and conform to your foot.

for ballet slippers it really isn't going to matter. No do not put any inserts into ballet slippers. they should fit your feet like a glove.
