Will the Yankees go after Francisco Liriano?
I read an article on SI.com that suggested the Twins may be close to declaring themselves dead for this season and begin fielding trade offers. Names that were thrown around were Cuddyer, Kubel, Pavano, and, of course, Francisco Liriano. Think the Yankees will make a run at him? I'm only asking about the Yanks because they're my favorite team, but if you think you know a team that might go after him, elaborate.
Would he even be a good move, with his health concerns and all, for a contender looking to bolster the starting rotation?

It's hard for the Yankees to make any real moves right now because the biggest paper weakness, their rotation, has actually turned out to be surprisingly strong while their lineup has slumped but has the track record (including earlier this season) to dissuade the Yankees from trading any of them. The Yankees were looking for a top flight starter, but much to their surprise, Garcia, Colon, and Nova are all doing well, Burnett is now suddenly good again (their #1 starter) and CC is pitching pretty well, but having some hard luck, which is starting to affect him. He usually heats up in the summer, though. Plus, Hughes is now on his way back. If he can do well again, they'll have 6 good starters for 5 spots, making Hughes, Colon, or Nova their long-man (perhaps rotating with that spot, since Nova and Colon might not be have the stamina to start a full season and Hughes might need a bull-pen stint to get back into form).
I just don't see who they could realistically trade and who they could realistically get that would be expected to be better. Wait until the trade deadline starts getting closer. By then, the Yankees will have a better idea who is just slumping and who is having a bad year and they'll know who they can trade and who they need much better. I don't expect any major moves though.

I think the Yankees need one more quality starter. Hughes has been a disaster, and I don't really know if he'll be back to form anytime soon. Nova has been mediocre at best... Colon and Garcia have been serviceable.
I think they need to add a starter, send Hughes to the minors, and put Nova in the bullpen.
