Hello, insert your mini dv disc in your disc tray, then copy and paste the video file(files) on your desktop you want to edit, after that open movie maker and you can simply import those video files from your desktop to movie maker, also you can click and drag those files to movie maker too for editing.

Windows Movie Maker can't accept video from mini dv camera, I suggest u camera Video Converter.. I downloaded a demo version and found it was definitly worth buying. One thing I liked about the demo version is that it converted the whole hd video, not just the first 2 minutes. It allowed me to get a good idea of the file size to quality ratio.

You need to browse the video through your PC in order for you to get the video to WMM.
Options to do so.
1. Transfer the video to your PC by inserting mini dv disc to your CD/DVD drive from your camera
2. Connect your camera to the PC
Procedure of inserting video to WMM:
1. Open WMM
2. Click "Import Video"
3. Browse/Locate your Video (wherever you save your video or in your camera if you chose to connect you camera than saving it in your PC)
4. Click import if you have found it.
The video will be imported to your WMM in several clips and you may start editing your video already which I beleieve you already know how.
Gudluck!
