why do only a few of the blades on wind farms seem to be working on really windy days?

you would think they would all be spinning like mad and powering the national grid

    At times they have to carry out maintenance and must stop the blades then for obvious reasons of safety.

    They are operated by a turbine, which will stop when it has reached a certain amount of hertz
