Tell him to go to a clinic. There are usually free anonymous test sites all over. Their are quick tests which are not completely accurate which he can take for an encounter which just took place. Their is also some take of pill that can be taken to suppress it with in the first 24 to 48 hours or so.

Other than that it usually takes 6 weeks to show up. So he can go back to the clinic in 2 months to get tested.

Your friend needs to start thinking and practice safe sex. If he ever has an encounter again and someone doesn't want to use protection he lets them know it is his way or the high way. If you or your friend or anyone else is going to play the field and sleep around - they should be tested at least once a year.

If someone does get hiv the key to managing it best is through early treatment. Late treatment is very, very bad. So one has to know ones status.

Gay sex is probably not going to give him any more STDs than heterosexual sex. Syphilis and gonorrhea abound in the world today, so it is always wiser to wear a condom for penetrative sex with people you don't know very well.

There are currently well over 90 viruses classified as HIV. Which should he be tested for? They occur in every segment of the population, mostly among the heterosexuals.

Each time a patient turns up with AIDS and the test shows HIV negative, they search for another and dub it a mutation. There are millions of viruses out there, so it's no big problem and how could he have AIDS without having "the virus"?

Gay men are constantly exhorted to get tested for HIV. Gay publications are full of ads for this. Well-funded trusts exist with the sole aim of battling HIV and “helping” people found to be positive. Do you think the officers of these foundations want to lose their jobs and the perquisites that go with them?

This scare means that more gay men get tested than any other group, so, accordingly, more or them are found to be "HIV positive". I am convinced that if nuns were thus targeted and persuaded to be tested they would form a large "risk group", because in my opinion the HIV retroviruses are pretty evenly distributed throughout the population, but who is testing housewives, nuns, fathers of families?

I seem to remember that one of the first people to contract AIDS in the US was indeed a nun. She is no longer listed, as no HIV antibodies could be found in her system. One of the first in Germany was the wife of a farmer who insisted she never even visited the nearest city, being too busy with the farm, here she had charge of ... wait for it ... the pesticides and fertilizers, i.e. nitrites. To gay men: does that word sound familiar?

I think John Lauritsen (google him) gets pretty near the truth.

No. in case you have not have been given HIV, the virus which could convey approximately AIDS, you won't be able to supply HIV to a distinctive individual. you won't be able to get HIV from somebody who would not have HIV. you are able to in basic terms get HIV from somebody who has HIV. between the subject concerns with HIV, nonetheless, is that maximum people who've HIV have not have been given any warning signs for years. the only thank you to make sure in case you have HIV is to get examined. (somebody who has HIV might try effective interior of three to 6 months when you have contaminated. maximum folk try effective interior of three months.) because of the fact there are actually not any warning signs, a lot of human beings do bypass the virus directly to others until now looking out that they themselves are contaminated.

@ I don't know: the least amount of sympathy is required. The least.

You have to go get tested, yes, it's bad and sucks if he contracted HIV; but it was his own doing.

Why would i give sympathy to someone who was stupid enough to have unprotected sex?

GO get tested, tis the only way to be sure.
