The older generation might know this one...?
The phrase, "Ninny, I want ninny"...refers to a child wanting breastmilk.
The phrase, "Pickaininny, you're a pickaninny"...refers to a colored girl with clips and ribbons in her hair. The question is...was phrase 1 derived from phrase 2?

No, they sound similar, but that's it. They have nothing to do with each other. Saying "ninny" for breast (or a pacifier) varies by locale.
Pickaninny or Piccaninny originated in the 1600s and most likely came from a portuguese word that means small child. It's not just a colored girl with clips or ribbons, it means any small black child or small aboriginal child (of Austrailia). It became popular in the 1800's (in America) when slave owners used it all the time to refer to children born of slaves. It was mean to be a derogatory term.
It's highly offensive.

I have done some informal research on words. The letters M and N seem to come from the shape of mountains which looks like women's breasts. Also the sound of M seems to come from the sound a cow makes "Moo" and cows provided milk like women's breast. I would guess that pickaninny means the favorite child of a mother.
