I believe with true friends you have to accept them, warts and all. Everyone brings certain things to relationships and yes they have faults - me too, so if you care for them and value having them in your life then you accept the bad bits along with the good.
Think about what assets your friend has - does she make you laugh, is she fun to be with, does she offer support when you are down. If she does then having her spout rubbish is a small price to pay.

you can lessen contact with that person a little bit because that is a tad bit annoying but you guys can remain as acquaintances just not as close as before

as long as your aware of how they are then i would pry stay friends with them, you became friends somehow in the first place.
