Which type of oil for my Audi A4?
Hi. I have a 2007 Audi A4 which has a turbo engine. According to the manual, SAE 5W-40 oil is preferred. I found an auto parts store that carries it but the bottle specifically says it's for diesel engines which mine is not. The guy at the store said it's fine. Just wanted to double check that this oil is okay to use. Otherwise, I could use 5W-30 which is available at all the gas stations. Advice? Thank you in advance.

Go to your nearest auto stores, and they can do a simple check, check online but seems 5w40 is typical type of oil for the car.

fully synthetic 5w-40 is the factory recommended oil weight...if that is not available I believe you can use 5w-30, but check before you put that in I personally use Mobil 1 because it is easy to find and thats what i've been using for years now

the audi with a turbo engine runs pretty warm. the Diesel is a non-detergent oil i believe. a standard 540 would do fine but the synthetic would be better.

5w40 is the viscosity necessary for the 2007 a4. Castrol GTX synthetic "The black bottle" is what the stores call them.
