is Oprah overRated...?

well shes a good person and thats all that matters, she helps people all over the world.. soo shes actually a really good role model.

I don't get the big fuss either. She gets attention because she's a self-made rich woman against the odds. But this applies to many people so its not that special and it's a superficial accomplishment as well.

She does put a spotlight on a few painful issues, but has it amounted to anything on a larger scale.? She doesn't even register on the Rosa Parks scale.

She does give to charity, but it's 10 % of her earnings always. She's just tithing apparently, no better than anyone else, certainly not like Bill Gates and a few other billionaires pledging to give it all away.

She's not truly the queen of all media, she had a massive flop movie she put all her weight behind. And she only bandwagoned Precious.

I believe her weight issues is the biggest contributor to her success, since a lot of American women are fat, and they identify with her, but strangely enough she seems to just contribute to the status quo (it's just the superficial attempt at change that matters, not actually changing), so she's a comfort to many who are overweight in this regard.

I'm pretty annoyed by all the media deification, you'd think she was Gaea, Eve, Hera and Mary rolled into one

Yes is the only answer anyone who can see through her self-promotional smokescreen can give you..She stands for herself and the almighty dollar..Advertisers get the most benefit from product placement and all those giveaways are not from her account..Ellen does much the same thing but she is more blatant as her whole programme is one big Infomercial.

Extremely overrated. Thank goodness for the internet because you would never hear this discussion on TV. This will be her legacy, not how "great" she was.

i like her. she does a lot of good things to help other people. who cares about her personal life?
