Will my Active Military service count towards Federal employment in terms of retirement?

only if you choose to buy into it.

there is a formula they use that determines how much you must pay to have your military service tacked on to your Federal retirement. but it doesn't mean if you work for the Army for ten years and then get a job with the FBI that you can retire in ten years.

you still have to do a full 20, but when you DO retire, you will be paid as if you worked for a total of 30 years.

When you join Federal Service you will be briefed on the process of "selling" your military service to the Federal Government. This is to make up for the fact that while you were in the military you were not paying into the retirement system which you are now joining. It is expensive and it is worth it.

yes ,being retired military and want to try to get a city ,county ,state,or federal job ,just fill out a application to take the test ,you might get extra points for being military.

yes they take a money out of your check to the pay taxes and for medicate/social security. Plus you get a pension as well the longer you are in. I think you have to be in for 10 years to get you pension then every few years after that it get bumped up. the longest you can be in the army is 25 years I think. although they can call you up after that if the need you at anytime.
