I have been called emo/ goth for YEARS! Its not particularly annoying, but recently I have felt like i belong to one of them categories...

You are an emo, but not for the reasons you think. Emo describes what kind of music you listen to. Emo people are the people that listen to emo music, which is short for emotional hardcore music. And it's not the depressing suicidal music you think it is. It's rock music, usually with punk styles, that deeply expresses emotions, it could be happy emotions too, not just depression. The bands you listed are emotional hardcore bands because they play rock music with some punk styles that express emotions. And since you listen to them, you're an emo.
Goth and scene is all about style and fashion. if you wear the goth/scene style (black nail polish, dyed black hair with sidebangs, eye liner, tight jeans, band t-shirts or black clothing) then you are goth or scene.
Cutters are the people that cut themselves. Cutters are not the same as emo people, alot of people think that. And not all cutters are exactly emotionally unstable, some do it for the trend.
And if you are depressed, you are an emotionally challenged person. And from what you say, you are one.
