problem with Asus mother board p5kpl am epu?

i m using 3.0ghz HT processor n 1 gb pc2 - 6400 CL6 ram , it starts very smoothly but after some it shuts down , every thing even cpu fan , when i see in bios , hardware monitor the temperature keep rise starting from 32 C to 83 C then shut down

Is heating my solution or there is a problem with power supply ?

Update:

@ nate : mate fan is clean , but there is not thermal paste left on processor , may be that is the problem thats y it heats up to 83 C then shut down , but some times it keeps running for hours . so i guess power supply n thermal paste is my solution

Update 2:

@ syneth : wats the solution for overclocked ?

Update 3:

Vcore voltage = 1.160

    couple possible solutions

    1 clean the heatsink fins

2 (learn how to ) clean and add a very thin layer of thermal paste imbetween ur heatsink and cpu

    3 get more airflow

4 make sure your heatsink is seated firmly on the cpu

5 you didnt say make model or wattage of the psu

    6. if you have taken off the heatsink then (its good practice) to re apply thermal paste (dont gob it on) use a playing card or something flat and stiff to apply an even THIN coating on.

    7. 300 watt is not good

    8. 600W + is a little more than what you seem to need.

    9. your computer will not use more power than what iot needs. if you get 1k watt PSU it wont use all 1k watts so dont worry about power consumption.

    10. its real bad to under power a computer. cause brown outs inside your machine and can damage resistors and diods of all your components.

    11. you seem fine with your voltages.... stability is your call

It is likely your power supply is not of sufficient wattage to handle the load. I had this exact same problem with the exact same board. After installing a 600 watt power supply I haven't had an issue.
