Teen Motorcycle Insurance in ontario?
hello, i am 17 years old, turning 18 in october. I live one hour north of Toronto ontario in a city of 125,000 people. I am wondering the approximate cost to insure me on a 2011 Honda cbr 250r, which costs approximately $4000. I have completed a drivers education program as well.
PLEASE DON'T TELL ME TO CONTACT AN INSURANCE BROKER
I can't check online quotes either because of my age.
I just want to know if it is even worth looking at or if i will be paying like 4 grand a year to ride 5-6 months.
thanks!

First off, your information is false.
A Honda CBR-250R costs about $1,600 more than the $4,000 you're imagining. MSRP alone is $4,499. Since there was a waiting list for these bikes and they are in high demand, dealers will not be selling for less.
After MSRP you have other fees. PDI and Freight are usually a few hundred depending on the time it takes mechanics to prep the bike, Admin is generally $100, Licensing in Ontario is $75, and the OTS (Ontario Tire Stewardship) is $11.68... you're looking at about $4,999 before taxes, or about $5,600 after taxes.
Second issue with your facts is that you can check online even with your age.
I was 18 when I started riding and got lots of quotes online. Look at Kanetix.ca for example. Their rates suck however. The companies that aren't quoting you because of your age are also the ones that probably won't insure you because of it.
I won't tell you to contact insurance brokers because you asked me not to... but you know what you need to do.
Last thing that's wrong with your info is the 5-6 months of riding season. With the right gear you can ride 9 months or even more. I ride in Toronto year round.
Usually I'm a lot nicer in my answers, but you really need to sit down and do some homework on this. If you can't figure out the proper pricing, you probably aren't ready for a motorcycle.
